It’s out with the old and in with the new next month when Football West celebrates the winding down of one season while at the same time launching another.
The wrap-up is for the Smarter Than Smoking Summer All-Abilities Futsal program, which coincides with the pre-season launch for the Smarter Than Smoking Equal Footingball Division.
The joint event takes place at the Pro Futsal Centre in Bibra Lake on Thursday, April 29, between 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The inclusive Smarter Than Smoking All-Abilities Futsal competition is designed to make the fast-paced, small-side game open to as many people as possible, such as players with disabilities.
Players from Pro Futsal and Kalamunda United – the two venues where the competition takes place – will get together at the wrap-up to both socialise and play games.
Meanwhile, the non-competitive Equal Footingball Division is suited to players with disadvantages for players aged 11 and above.
No record is kept of results or goalscorers and there is no ladder.
Football West head of development Jamie Harnwell said the big day was a chance to celebrate the work done to make football as accessible as possible.
“This event is another demonstration of the commitment that Football West has to providing participation opportunities for players of all ages and abilities,” Harnwell said.
“We are extremely proud of the growth of both Summer All Abilities Futsal and Equal Footingball and we look forward to supporting those individuals and clubs in the future.”
The State Government’s Disability Services Commission helped with getting the All-Abilities Futsal Program off the ground.
