Big day for Football Hall of Fame WA
Football West News
The Football Hall of Fame WA will celebrate a series of significant milestones – including its 21st birthday – with a social football match and formal function at Dorrien Gardens tonight.
Celebrations will kick-off at 4pm when local media play a game of football against a team of visiting English media in Perth to cover the Ashes.
Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is expected to lead the visitors, while former FIFA World Cup referee Eddie Lennie will take the whistle for the match and ex-FIFA Assistant Referee Mathew Cheeseman will assist.
Former Perth Glory players Jamie Harnwell and Steve McGarry and ex-Socceroo Robbie Dunn are expected to be among the locals pulling on their boots to take on the visitors.
At this evening’s function inside the Dorrien Gardens club rooms, the Hall of Fame WA will reflect on a number of highlights, including 50 years since WA took on Manchester United at the WACA Ground.
The Football Hall of Fame WA was established in 1996 to coincide with the celebration of 100 years of WA football.
