Come and try Girls SAP

Football West News

Football West is launching the 2017 Smarter than Smoking Girls Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) this weekend through two Come and try Girls SAP days.

The initiative will include small-sided games for girls aged nine to 12, combining football fun and development.

It will be an excellent opportunity for players and parents to meet the coaches and find out more about the Skill Acquisition Program.

The program is a key aspect of the Football Federation Australia National Curriculum, aimed at accelerating the skill development of players at the critical ages of nine to 12. It offers a development opportunity and outcome that aims to increase the skill level of girls entering the player pathway.

The Skill Acquisition Program is open to all players who display a willingness to improve.

Current ability should not be prioritised over potential ability, with a critical long-term approach toward player development. The program aims to ensure players have the necessary technical tools or functional game skills to have an improved opportunity to play at a higher level.

The Come and try Girls SAP sessions run on:

Saturday February 4 at Celebration Park, Rochester Circle, Balga (North Venue)

  • U9 and U10 – 9am-10am
