D’Arcy Slater Foundation scholarship offer

Football West News

The D’Arcy Slater Foundation is offering up to $45,000 in sport scholarships, facilitated by the WA Institute of Sport.

The Foundation was formed in memory of 13-year old D’Arcy Slater, a talented young sportsman and academic and the only child of Bill Slater and Christina Slater, who tragically drowned whilst returning to school at Guildford Grammar following football training.

The sporting scholarships have been set up by the Foundation to provide means for young West Australians to realise their potential in sport. They are offered by the Foundation in addition to other programs, which aim to encourage youth to pursue their aspirations in education, music, theatre and the arts.

Scholarships are offered on a bi-annual basis to ensure winter and summer sports have equal opportunities to be considered. Up to seven individual scholarships worth $5,000 will be awarded annually, together with up to one team scholarship worth $10,000.

Applications will be assessed by a selection panel, consisting of three Performance Team Directors.

Applicants can apply online here http://www.wais.org.au/forms/dsf.php.

The selection criteria is outlined on the WAIS website. Complete application forms should be submitted via email to wais@wais.org.au by 5.00pm on Friday, 3 February 2017.

Four individual scholarships will be awarded in the summer round and team applications will not be considered.
