The Westfield Matildas will play their historic first match on WA soil when they take on Thailand in an international challenge match at nib Stadium tonight (6pm kick-off).
A host of stars, including West Australian’s Sam Kerr, Lisa De Vanna and Lydia Williams, will strut their stuff in a crucial warm-up match before the Matildas head to Jordan for next month’s Asian Cup.
Kerr, who has received a string of recent awards including Young Australian of the Year and RAC Sports Star of the Year, has risen to prominence on the back of thrilling displays at domestic and international level.
She has not ruled out a celebratory backflip should she score against Thailand.
And goals are likely to flow at nib Stadium based on previous encounters between the teams, who have met four times over the years.
