Football West will join in the football celebrations when Perth Glory Women take on Canberra United in Round 12 of the Westfield W-League at Bunbury’s Hay Park Multi-sports Precinct.
The match will headline a weekend of community engagement initiatives supported by Football West, the City of Bunbury and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Football West Chief Executive Officer James Curtis said the weekend would provide another opportunity to raise the profile of the sport in regional WA.
“Football in the South West is in a fantastic position with the number of players involved in the game,” Curtis said.
“Working with Perth Glory, the City of Bunbury and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to bring a high-profile, W-League fixture to the community maintains our commitment to growing the sport.
“I’m sure it will be a fantastic game of football and the whole weekend will be a great way to celebrate female football and all it has to offer.”
Football West coaches and staff will work alongside Glory in a series of activities, including coaching clinics in the region.
Free junior soccer clinics will be held for the public in Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough with special guest appearances from some of Perth Glory’s W-League team.
