A player from each club was at the draw – Dean Evans from Floreat, ECU’s Daryl Nicol, Gwelup’s Cameron Yorke and Charlie Kenna of Armadale.

Unbeaten first division leaders Gwelup Croatia have taken two NPL WA scalps on their way to the last four. They defeated Cockburn City in Preliminary Round Five then on Sunday overcame Subiaco 2-1 in extra-time thanks to two goals from experienced striker David Heagney.

Gwelup coach Taki Nocolaidis said his side would be up for the challenge of taking down a third successive NPL team.

“There are a couple of ex-Athena boys in our squad, which makes it even tastier. And a home game will help us as well,” he said.

“We had a really good atmosphere on Sunday, and in the previous round against Cockburn … we’re expecting a big crowd in the semi-final and hopefully we can put our best foot forward.”

Nicolaidis said of Heagney: “Having quality players like that in the team who have got that class, you are looking for them to step up and he did that, not just now but in the previous round against Cockburn.”

The winners of the two ties will qualify for the national Round of 32 of the FFA Cup and the Football West Belt up. State Cup final.

The Belt up. Cup final will be held at Dorrien Gardens, home of Perth SC.

The ties will take place on the public holiday of Monday, June 4. Kick-off times are to be confirmed.
