Football West celebrates Harmony Week

Football West News

Football West will host the first Harmony Week Football Festival on Sunday, March 18 through the support of the Department of Local Government and Communities, Office of Multicultural Interests.

Harmony Week, which runs from March 15-21, encourages everyone to experience, explore and appreciate WA’s wealth of cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity.

The Football Festival will be supported by the Office of Multicultural Interests through a grant of $3,000 as part of the Community Grants Program.

The Harmony Week Football Festival continues the government department’s involvement with community football programs following their support of Football West and PayDirt Magazine’s 2017 African Down Under Cup.

The support of the Office of Multicultural Interests will increase Football West’s capacity to reach key population groups who will benefit from the participation opportunities and assist in transitioning participants in to community programs, local clubs and recreation centres.

The Harmony Week Football Festival, which will be held at Mills Park, Beckenham, will involve communities from diverse backgrounds in a small-sided football tournament and provide participants with opportunities to integrate with their community members, other cultures, local government representatives and other service providers.

If your community is interested in participating in the 2018 Harmony Week Football Festival, register your expression of interest here before March 2, 2018.
