Football West has agreed a three-year partnership with Pro Futsal Australia that will increase community participation and improve futsal opportunities for elite development players, including representation at state and national level.
Football West Chief Executive Officer James Curtis said the partnership would provide immediate benefits to the sport in WA.
“This is a major step forward for both parties in reaching our goal of growing futsal in the state,” he said.
“We’ve been working with Pro Futsal for a number of years now, and formalising an arrangement reaffirms our commitment to developing prospects for futsal players in WA.
“Together with Pro Futsal we will be implementing programs and initiatives to provide more opportunities for players to participate in futsal, whilst encouraging them to progress along the development pathway.”
The agreement will focus on increasing participation opportunities for players, as well as providing futsal-specific coaching and referee courses.
Pro Fustal Australia CEO Eldon Abrahams was pleased to confirm the affiliation with the governing body for soccer in WA.
“Working with Football West is going to open up more possibilities for Pro Futsal and for futsal players in the State,” he said.
“Our goal is to see a WA side compete in a national futsal competition and increase opportunities for national representation, international competitions and development of referees and coaches. We’re confident that our relationship with Football West will help make these programs a success.”
