Glory Women head to South West

Football West News

Through the support of Football West, the City of Bunbury and the Department of Sport and Recreation, the Perth Glory Women will take on Canberra United in a scheduled W-League match in Bunbury this weekend as part of their 2018 South West Tour.

The match, which will take place at the Hay Park Multi Sports Pavilion on Saturday, January 20, is the feature of the Tour, which will also involve a number of community initiatives in Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough.

Several Matildas will be on show during the match, including captain Sam Kerr, with Glory led by Head Coach Bobby Despotovski.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2018

ARRIVAL | A collection of players and coaches will arrive in Bunbury on Thursday, January 18. On the evening of Thursday 18 January, there will be Civic Reception to be hosted by the Mayor of the City of Bunbury, Gary Brennan to officially greet the Perth Glory Football Club and open proceedings.  This is an invite-only event.

 

FRIDAY, JANUARY 19, 2018

COMMUNITY CLINICS IN BUNBURY | The remaining players will arrive in Bunbury on Friday 19 January.

FREE JUNIOR CLINIC | A free soccer clinic will be held at Hay Park, Bunbury from 9:30 to 11:00am followed by a sausage sizzle and meet and greet with a selection of the Perth Glory Women players and coaches.  There will be an opportunity for a Q & A session with Head Coach, Bobby Despotovski and star player, Samantha Kerr. This clinic is free and open to all ages (Under 6 – Under 14) and boys and girls and of all abilities are welcome.  Participants will be able to make new friends, meet a select group of Perth Glory Women footballers and coaches, have the chance to learn new skills and participate in fun tournament football activities. COACH THE COACHES SESSION | A coach the coaches session with Bobby Despotovski and Football West coaches after the team’s familiarisation session will take place at Hay Park at 5:30pm. REGISTER FOR COACH THE COACHES SESSION HERE

MEDIA EVENT | A media conference will be held on the morning of Friday 19 January, 2018 with the Perth Glory Coach, Bobby Despotovski and Captain, Samantha Kerr to preview the Round 12 W-League fixture between Perth Glory FC and Canberra United at the Dolphin Discovery and Wildlife Parks.  A news notification will be sent closer to the day with confirmed times.

This clinic is free and open to all ages (Under 6 – Under 14), boys and girls and of all abilities are welcome.  Participants will be able to make new friends and have the privilege of meeting a select group of Perth Glory Women footballers and coaches where they will also have the chance to learn new skills and participate in fun tournament football activities. OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL SOCCER CLUBS | Bunbury Geographe-based soccer clubs will have the opportunity to participate in the event by hosting food and beverage rights on the Friday 19 and Saturday 20 January.
