Gold Fields Amateur side arrive in Malaysia

Football West News

The Gold Fields Amateur State Squad arrived in Malaysia on Saturday.

The WA team will play three games in eight days, all in Sarawak – against Kuching on Monday, Samarahan on Wednesday and the SWAK Project team on Friday.

The WA team received their shirts at a formal presentation at Wanneroo City SC’s Kingsway ground on Thursday.

Also present were Head Coach Colm Costello, Assistant Coach Jack Monaco and Team Manager Graeme Marinkovich, plus Gold Fields Recruitment Superintendent Kiara Matkovich and Football West Deputy Chairman Henry Atturo.

“We had trial games and we had representations from 11 of the 12 (Belt Up Amateur Premier) teams, which is good … I’ve had a chance to look at all the games and we’ve picked a pretty good squad,” Costello said.

Oscar Kelly of champions North Perth will captain the side, with Belt Up Amateur Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Year Paul Rainford his vice captain.
