Gold Fields State U15s to play in Bali

Football West News

The Gold Fields State Under 15 Boys Team have been invited to play in a tournament in Indonesia next month.

They will take part in the Bali International Football Championships between December 1-10, which has been organised by the GOBOLABALI Foundation to develop youth football in Indonesia.

Teams from nine other countries have been invited to participate, with sides guaranteed a minimum of five matches.

This is the second time in three months the Gold Fields State Under 15s have been invited to play in Asia. In August they took part in the Jinshan International Youth Football Championship in Shanghai, China.

Daniel Faichney of Sorrento will captain the Gold Fields State U15 team

The tournament will give Football West an opportunity to strengthen relations with Asian football.

In June Football West hosted the Persebaya Under 19 side from Indonesia, while earlier this month the Gold Fields State Amateur Team enjoyed a victorious three-game trip to Malaysia.

And during the Under 15s trip to the Jinshan Youth Championships earlier this year, Football West signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shanghai FA to deliver improved player, coach and referee exchange programs between the two bodies.

Football West CEO James Curtis said: “We are delighted to accept the invitation to play in Bali.

“Football West values greatly our Asian Engagement Strategy. These trips are not only important for the development of the young players but also for building good relationships with our neighbours.

“It is also an opportunity to showcase the talent from Western Australia and I would like to thank Gold Fields for their continued support in promoting WA football.”

Freeman Nyatsambo

Head coach Brad Hassell said: “It’s an exciting opportunity and the boys are looking forward to again testing themselves against international opposition.

“The boys who went to China gave an excellent account of themselves and I am confident we will impress once more.”

Daniel Faichney of Sorrento will captain the team.

Gold Fields is the official sponsor of all of Football West State teams.
