Football West News

Football West will conduct new Youth and Senior C Licence, B Licence and Goalkeeper Level One coaching courses in 2017.

The C Licence course is conducted in two components, Youth and Senior.

The Youth component is aimed at coaching players in the U9 to U16 age groups, while the Senior course addresses the coaching of players aged U18 and older.

Both components, which are conducted in two parts, are open to all coaches and are designed to educate candidates in applying the National Curriculum to develop talented players.

The total course cost is $1230, with $200 being subsidised by Football West, so each candidate will pay a total of $1030 ($515 for each of Part One and Two).

Youth C Licence

This course sets out to educate candidates 18 years and older in applying the National Curriculum holistically to develop talented players aged 9-17.

Participants will learn to understand and utilise the Coach Expertise Model in the Skill Acquisition (9-13 years) and Game Training (13-17 years) phases to develop key coaching competencies for training, match and management.

On completion of the course, successful candidates should demonstrate knowledge in the following:

1. The National Football Curriculum
2. The objectives and structure of football
3. The FFA Philosophy and Vision
4. The FFA Team Model
5. The Coach Expertise Model
6. Plan, prepare, conduct and evaluate a SAP training session
7. Set a periodised training plan for both the SAP and Game Training phases
8. Communicate with and manage youth players.

The course runs on Saturdays listed below (8:30am – 3:00pm)

Part 1 (3 contact days): April 22, 29 and May 6.
Part 2 (3 contact days): May 13, 20 and June 3

Venue: Gibbney Reserve, Ferguson Street, Maylands.

Senior C Licence

This course sets out to educate candidates 18 years of age and older on the 11 v 11 aspects of the game and how to apply the National Curriculum holistically to develop Amateur Senior and Talented Youth players (17 and over).

Participants will learn to understand and utilise the Coach Expertise Model, in the improvement of the Performance Phase building block, and develop key coaching competencies for training, match and management.

On completion of the course, successful candidates should demonstrate knowledge and competence in the following:

1. The National Football Curriculum
2. The objectives and structure of football
3. The FFA Philosophy and vision
4. The FFA Team Model
5. The Coach Expertise Model
6. In game match analysis
7. Plan, prepare, conduct and evaluate a training session
8. Effective team talk and half-time talks
9. Develop a six-week per iodization pre-season plan

B Licence

Football Federation Australia instructor Michael Cooper will conduct a new B Licence coaching course starting in March 2017.

The B Licence course will be held at Gibbney Reserve in Maylands and will be conducted in two parts.

The course costs $2420 and Football West will subsidise $500 on completion.

Pre-requisites
• Completion of the C Licence course
• FFA recommends candidates practice coaching for a minimum of two years at a C Licence level in order to gain suitable experience

Mode of delivery
• Part One (full-time six days) and Part Two (full-time six days)
• Practical and Theory sessions run during each of the 12 contact days. Candidates must attend all course modules.
• The course demands specific pre-course preparation as home study as well as preparation of specific tasks between contact days.

The course runs 9am to 5pm on the following dates:

Part 1: March 5-10
Part 2: September 17-22

Level One Goalkeeper Coaching

Football Federation Australia instructor Dean May will conduct a Level One Goalkeeper Coaching Course at Gibbney Reserve in March 2017.

The course, which is designed for top amateur, semi-professional and advanced goalkeeper coaches, will run for five days.

The course costs $1430 and Football West will subsidise $500 on completion.

Pre-requisites
• Minimum Part One of C Licence course
• Community Goalkeeper Diploma

Mode of delivery
• Five full days
• Delivered by FFA/National Technical staff

Assessment
• Practical assessment
• Written exam

The course runs 9am to 5pm on the following dates:

Monday, March 13 to Friday, March 17
