More than 100 people attended a Petroleum Club of WA’s Industry Breakfast featuring Young Australian of the Year Sam Kerr as the guest speaker at the Duxton Hotel this morning.
The event, co-sponsored by Football West, provided a networking opportunity for club members and guests, who heard from Football West Chief Executive Officer James Curtis.
Football West Head of Development Jamie Harnwell played a key role in the event, conducting an in-depth questions-and-answers session with the Perth Glory women’s captain.
Kerr spoke of her rise to the top of women’s football in Australia and overseas through individual and team successes in the United States and at national level with the Westfield Matildas.
The 24 year old was recently named ABC Sports Personality of the Year and the Asian Football Confederation Women’s Player of the Year. She also won the National Women’s Soccer League Golden Boot, scoring a record number of goals in the process.
She was named Young Australian of the Year and received her award from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Canberra on Australia Day.
