Kingsley claim victory over Ellenbrook

Report by Bobby Stamatoski

Kingsley FC claimed a crushing 3-0 victory over Ellenbrook United at the Ellenbrook Sports Hub on Sunday in the Amateur Premier League.

First half goals from Nick Lowe and David Morris put Kingsley firmly in the driving seat, before David Ashworth scored 3 minutes from the restart to put the game beyond any doubt.

Kingsley coach Steve Dimitrovich was pleased with how his team controlled the game.

“It was a very workman-like performance,” he said.

“The whole game was played on our terms.

“I was pleased with our work rate, especially without the ball. I was very proud of that. We turned the ball quite quick which was good.”

Kingsley dominated the first half from the kick off and produced all the early chances.

The pressing finally paid off, as some good work on the left-hand side and a cross from Jayden Drummond found Nick Lowe who tapped in the simplest of chances past goalkeeper Reid at the half hour mark to put the visitors ahead.

Ten minutes later, it was the goal scorer who turned provider.

Nick Lowe found David Morris at the back post with an excellent cross from the right, to put the visitors ahead 2-0 before the half-time break.

Ellenbrook United didn’t manage to pull one back before the break, as first half substitute Sahr Koroma could not capitalize on a defensive mix-up.

Three minutes into the first half, Ellenbrook Untied were again caught napping at the back post. This time it was Morris who turned goal scorer into provider.

After some good work down the left, Morris delivered an exquisite cross for David Ashworth, who was left wide open at the back post to header past the goalkeeper and put the game to bed.

Ellenbrook United had some chances of their own in the second half, but failed to capitalize on them. In the 66th minute, substitute Jon Martinez unleashed a scorcher from forty yards, only to be denied by the cross-bar.

Sahr Koroma came alive late in the second half for Ellenbrook, and almost turned provider for Jack Taylor at the far post, but could only put his effort wide from close range.

The result sees Kingsley comfortable in second place just five points behind league leaders Wembley Downs SC, while Ellenbrook United are still clear off the bottom three after this defeat.

Kingley FC will be visiting Subiaco AFC in their next fixture and will look to continue their fine form.
