The Westfield Matildas’ first-ever game in Perth proved a huge success as Alen Stajcic’s side ran out 5-0 winners over Thailand at nib Stadium.
Almost 8000 supporters braved the rain to see West Aussie Lisa De Vanna score twice, while Alex Chidiac, Chloe Logarzo and Larissa Crummer also got on the scoresheet.
Matildas star Sam Kerr, who captains Perth Glory in the Westfield W-League, set up two of the goals and praised her home crowd who turned out in such numbers on a Monday night.
“To play in front of family and friends is amazing and it’s awesome to see the crowd get behind us,” the 24-year-old forward told Fox Sports.
“It’s a proud moment for me, Lisa and ‘Lyds’ (Lydia Williams), who is originally from WA, we’ll claim her.
“It’s a proud moment for not only us but the team to finally come out and play in front of the whole of Australia, not just Sydney and Melbourne.”

The Matildas will now turn their attention to the Asian Cup in Jordan, which begins on April 6.
The historic match in Perth was made possible thanks to Football Federation Australia, Football West and the WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
