Football West NTC girls will return home with their heads held high after the NTC Challenge identification tournament at the AIS in Canberra this week.
Coach Jessine Bonzas’ team finished an unofficial joint third, behind NSW and Queensland, after winning one, drawing two and losing to the two sides who finished above them.
There were a number of strong performances from the WA girls, including striker Leticia McKenna who was voted Football West’s player of the tournament by her teammates after scoring seven goals.
The NTC Challenge is used to identify potential future Young Matildas and Technical Director Cris Ola said: “It was a good tournament and overall we performed well as a team. Hopefully a few girls from WA have put themselves in contention after this week.”
The Football West NTC girls are back in action in the Women’s Premier Division on Sunday, June 10 at UWA-Nedlands.
