Walking Football is alive in Western Australia.
Following 6 years of experimentation and refinement and the recent advent of leagues in the United Kingdom, Football West is now working with local clubs and initiatives to make our game enjoyable and accessible to a wider section of the community.
This exciting new form of the game is increasing inclusion and participation levels, recruiting people seeking a social and active lifestyle, retaining players considering hanging up their boots and adding to health and wellbeing of the community. Older persons and people with reduced mobility and fitness are especially encouraged to try it out and see if it is a good fit for them.
Expressions of interest are welcomed from individuals and clubs; if you are keen to take the first step email to email@example.com with name and suburb, and we will keep you updated on events and progress.
More ‘Walkshops’ are being organised around Perth and Western Australia for clubs and players to trial the game.
Further updates will be posted here.
Please note: while the game is played at a slower pace and minimises physical contact and brings positive health benefits for most, we urge people considering participating with serious health issues or previous injuries to consult their physician to seek medical clearance before playing.
- ‘Walkshops’ on offer to interested clubs; free of charge; all are welcome to attend, participate, join the discussion and enjoy an evening with a difference! Participants to wear comfortable sporty shoes and clothes.
