Walking Football is alive in Western Australia.
Following 6 years of experimentation and refinement and the recent advent of leagues in the United Kingdom, Football West is now working with clubs and initiatives to make our game enjoyable and accessible to a wider section of the community.
This exciting new form of the game is increasing inclusion and participation levels, recruiting people seeking a social and active lifestyle, retaining players considering hanging up their boots and adding to health and wellbeing of the community. Older persons and people with reduced mobility and fitness are especially encouraged to try it out and see if it is a good fit for them.
If you are keen to take the first step contact one of the clubs below or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with name and suburb to be kept updated on events and progress in your area.
More ‘Walkshops’ are being organised around Perth and regional Western Australia for clubs and players to trial the game.
Modest fees apply for players insurance, referees, venue, etc.
Further updates will be posted here.
Please note: while the game is played at a slower pace and minimises physical contact and brings positive health benefits for most, we urge people considering participating with serious health issues or previous injuries to consult their physician to seek medical clearance before playing.
