Socceroos face Syria in Sydney

Football West News

The Caltex Socceroos are in the final stages of their preparations for Tuesday night’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers – Asian Play-off match against Syria.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will take on Syria at Stadium Australia, Sydney on Tuesday, October 10 2017.

The Socceroos made a solid start to their play-off campaign against Syria, drawing 1-1 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in the first leg.

Robbie Kruse opened the scoring for Australia in the first half before Omar Al Soma equalised for Syria from the penalty spot in the second stanza.

Caltex Socceroos and Syria all square after first leg in Melaka.

Should Australia successfully defeat Syria over two legs, the Caltex Socceroos will advance to the CONCACAF-Asian Zone Play-off (home and away) in November 2017 for a place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
