Sorrento face South Melbourne in FFA Cup

PlayStation 4 National Premier League side Sorrento will head east to take on NPL Victoria’s South Melbourne FC in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16.

Sorrento, the first Member Federation club from WA to reach the Round of 16, beat last year’s semi-finalists Canberra Olympic 1-0 at Percy Doyle Reserve in the Round of 32.

Sean Canham’s 7th-minute winner became the 300th goal scored in the Westfield FFA Cup final rounds.

South Melbourne defeated three-time FFA Cup Round of 32 entrants Edgeworth Eagles 1-0 to make the Round of 16.

The Round of 16 draw was conducted on Wednesday night following the final four matches of the Round of 32.

Inaugural Cup holders Adelaide United will host 2015 champions Melbourne Victory in the last 16, while last year’s finalists Melbourne City FC and Sydney FC were drawn against Member Federation clubs Hakoah Sydney City East and Bankstown Berries respectively.

2014 semi-finalists Bentleigh Greens will host Western Sydney Wanderers FC, Moreton Bay United and Gold Coast City will play-off in a Queensland derby, APIA Leichhardt and Blacktown City meet in an all-NSW showdown and Sydney United 58 FC was drawn to host Heidelberg United.

The Round of 16 will comprise two match nights with four matches per night.

FOX SPORTS will broadcast one match live and exclusive in full on both match days in the Round of 16, with LIVE streaming and updates of the other matches.

The specific match details in regards to dates, venues and kick-off times will be announced by 3pm WST Friday.
