Tana named Female Coach of the Year

Football West News

The first of the rebel Female Football Week awards has been revealed with Balcatta FC Women’s coach Lisa Tana named WA Female Coach of the Year.

Tana, who led Balcatta to the Top Four Cup last season, was rewarded for her unstinting dedication to women’s football.

The judging panel was told Tana “continues to inspire girls of all ages and at different levels of the game and through her time at Balcatta FC … allowing them a pathway to play at a senior level at a young age”.

Tana helped introduce a sport and conditioning coach and a physiotherapist for the female footballers at training and game days, and was one of the figures who transformed the 3-5-year-old player program at Balcatta FC, the Soccer Bambini.

Tana’s name will now be put forward for the national award, which will be judged by Football Federation Australia.

There will be four more awards announced throughout this week – Female Player of the Year, Female Referee Encouragement Award, Female Administrator of the Year and Male Champion of the Year.
