Tributes to be paid to Giuliano Cantoni
Football West News
There will be a minute’s silence at Saturday night’s NPL and men’s State League Night Series finals in memory of popular local football figure Giuliano Cantoni.
Giuliano, who died aged 71 last Sunday, was a great servant of the game in Western Australia as a player, coach, referee and assessor across both South West (Bunbury) and Perth.
Inducted into the Football West Hall of Recognition in 2012 and also serving on the Referees’ Standing Committee, Italy-born Giuliano will be sadly missed by the refereeing and wider football communities in WA.

As a mark of respect, there will be a minute’s silence held at this weekend’s State League and NPL Night Series Finals, with match officials across all Football West matches this weekend invited to wear black armbands during their matches.
“I have known Giuliano for many years – he was a true gentleman of the sport and will be sorely missed,” Football West General Manager Football, Coach, Referee, Education & Development Eddie Lennie said.
Football West extends its deepest condolences to Giuliano’s family on behalf of the entire refereeing community.
