U15 State team get tune-up win

The Gold Fields State Under 15 Team had their latest run-out on Tuesday as they prepare for their upcoming trip to China.

The side, coached by Football West Development Officers Garry Church and Brad Hassell, played an Ellenbrook United combined Under 16/18 side.

The State side won 1-0 and Hassell was pleased with how the team was coming together.

“It was a good test. We hit the post a couple of time but it was a fairly even game. The boys are really gelling,” he said.

The Under 15 squad will play in the Jinshan International Youth Football Championship.

More than 60 players tried out for the squad over five trials.

Eight teams from across from Europe and Asia will participate, with China entering two sides.

The squad will leave Perth on August 21 and return on September 1.
