2020 rebel Female Football Week

Football West News

The 2020 rebel Female Football Week returns next month as Football West celebrates the roles and achievements of girls and women in the sport.

This fantastic nationwide initiative runs from Saturday, 14 March to Sunday, 22 March, with Football West involved in a series of activations.

The biggest of these events is Girls Day Out, which this year takes place at Les Lilleyman Reserve in North Perth.

This will be held on Sunday, 15 March and will attract up to 150 girls aged 4-15.

There will be 12 rotational activities and these will include small-sided games, a blow-up pitch, a shooting and goalkeeping station, a referee station and a photobooth where youngsters have the chance to have their pictures taken with a Perth Glory W-League player.

There will also be a MiniRoos Certificate Course for parents to sign up for.

For those who cannot make it to Perth, there will be Girls Day Out galas held in Albany, Broome, Busselton, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Karratha.

Other events which are ALL FREE include a Female Only Referee Level 4 Course, an Empowering Women Workshop and a Female Only Skill Training Certificate for Coaches.

There are a maximum of 20 places available for the Training Certificate, which is open to coaches training players aged 9-13 in the Hyundai Skill Acquisition Phase. The course, which is over seven hours, focuses on building technical skills.

Meanwhile, Round 24 of the Hyundai A-League between 20-22 March will be Female Football Round.

Female football teams are encouraged to nominate their club for a pre-game Female Football Heroes march past at the Perth Glory v Western United match at HBF Park on 21 March.

In the build-up to rebel Female Football Week, Football West will announce the winners of the State Community Awards. The five winners will represent WA at the National Community Awards.

The week before, on 8 March which is International Women’s Day, there will be activities at the Night Series Final double-header from members of the female Hyundai TSP and Hyundai SAP.
