Drummond inspires Kingsley comeback

Report by Samuel Hays

A brilliant second half performance from Jayden Drummond helped Kingsley to a 4-3 victory over Leeming Strikers in the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division at John Connell Reserve on Sunday.

The match marked the first meeting between the two sides since the 2018 Belt Up Amateur Cup Final and it was clear early on that Leeming were out for revenge as they raced away to a 2-0 lead within 13 minutes.

Jay Dost found the back of net after eight minutes before Aiden Evans tapped home a square ball from Lucas Pickering to give Leeming the perfect start.

But a well-placed header from Aaron Lickiss in the 27th minute gave Kingsley a route a back into the match.

Leeming made another fast start in the second half as Ben Greaves pounced on a loose ball inside the box to restore their two-goal advantage.

The home side looked well set to take the win but Drummond had other ideas. He got in behind before slotting the ball past Leeming keeper Jordan Jones in the 50th minute.

Drummond again showed his class down the left four minutes later when he got the better of his marker and put in great cross which rolled over the line with the last touch coming from a Leeming player.

With the scores level both sides tussled to find a winner and in the end Kingsley prevailed as Lickiss again put a great header past Jones.
