Day Four: Westfield NYC for Girls

The Gold Fields State Under 14 Team finished third in their group following Day Four of the Westfield National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.

The WA side finished their group matches with a 4-0 win over Tasmania.

Mia Yeo, Ella Gillespie(2)  and Olivia Trueman scored the goals which all came in the first half.

The U14s finish their week with a game against Newcastle Jets on Friday.

The Gold Fields Under 15s have one group game tomorrow and victory over Northern NSW will give them a third place group finish too.

They went down 2-1 to NSW Country on Thursday, Ella Lincoln scoring for the third game this week.

Football West Technical Manager Cris Ola said: “The girls have been getting better as the tournament has progressed , as the Under 14 result confirms.

“The Under 15s were not far from getting a positive result but again individual errors proved costly.”

The 14 Years Championship saw Football Queensland take out the Group A top spot and Capital Football securing the Group B Title.

Friday will be played through cross over matches and will be joined by a local composite North Coast Football Select team who will have their chance to play Northern Territory at 9 am.

The 15 Years Tournament has also seen leaders emerge on the table as NSW Metro secure the top spot with five points clear from their opposition in Group A, while in Group B only separating by goal difference NSW Country lead in Group B over Northern NSW Football (NNSWF).

It is still a tight call in the finals race in Group B with who will come first as NNSWF (2nd place) will play a deciding match against Football West (4th place) at 9am whilst NSW Country (1st place) verse Tasmania (5th place) at 1:00 pm.

The presentation will commence from 3:45 pm as the Championships will decide the group winners, players and goalkeepers of the tournament as well as the officials of the tournament.
