FFA Cup: Balga draw NPL champions

Football West News

The FFA Cup Round 5 draw has thrown up a number of interesting ties including one all-NPL WA clash.

The top flight encounter is at Frank Drago Reserve with Bayswater City facing Cockburn City.

On paper Bayswater boast the firepower, with the likes of Daryl Nicol and Gordon Smith recruited this season. But it’s Cockburn who have the NPL’s joint top scorer in Daniel Robinson.

A possible tie of the round will take place at Kingsway where Division One Olympic Kingsway host Floreat Athena.

Floreat are third in the NPL but will be wary of facing a team second in Division One and who have not lost a league match since 2017.

Sorrento and Gwelup Croatia – the two sides who were beaten in the last two State Belt Up Cup Finals –  meet at Percy Doyle Reserve, while Division Two side Balga SC have pulled a plum tie with a home game against NPL champions and current leaders Perth SC.

The ties are scheduled for the weekend of May 18/19.
