Olympic swimming star Tommaso D’Orsogna and health coach Sharon Gleeson were the key speakers at Football West’s Health & Sports Nutrition Presentation this week.
The free event took place at the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Football West Development Officer Garry Church, who organised the evening, said the insight shared was of great value for athletes.
“It was fantastic that Tommaso and Sharon gave up their time to deliver this presentation,” he said.
“It was a reminder that at the basic level, nutrition is important for our athletes because of the source of energy it provides, especially when required to perform at training or in a game.
“The food we eat has an impact on our strength, training, performance and recovery. Not only is the type of food we eat important for sports nutrition but also the times of the day we eat as this can have an impact on our performance levels and our body’s ability to recover after exercising.
“I would like to thank Sharon Gleeson and Tommaso D’Orsogna for their professional delivery and all the people who attended.”
