Football West held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hamersley Rovers’ revamped clubhouse at Carine Open Space on Wednesday 20 March 2019.
The AGM had its biggest turnout for some time, with representatives of the football community attending, including Football West Life Members.
It was a significant evening, with the retiring of two Football West Directors, Henry Atturo and Lui Guiliani who have both served two consecutive terms as elected directors.
Football West Chair Mr Liam Twigger thanked both for their contribution and dedication to the game in Western Australia, and in particular acknowledged Henry Atturo who has served as Deputy Chair on the Board.
The Chair and CEO James Curtis both reported on the highlights for the year, including the visit of the Westfield Matildas and the Asian Engagement program, growth of the game, new partnerships, the investment in female football and the work to secure investment in facilities for the game as a whole.
It was also highlighted that the areas of club development, improved facilities and support to improve the accessibility of the game is a focus going forward.
The elections for three positions were also undertaken with Company Members and members of the public briefed on the requirements required to be adhered to under the Football West Constitution. Following the vote, Sherif Andrawes, Jason Petkovic and Richard Marshall were elected to the Board.
The Company Members also voted to admit Julius Re as a Life Member of Football West.
Julius has had an extensive involvement in the game over decades and has been recognised in the FFA Hall of Fame, Life Member of the WA Soccer Federation, Life Member of the Australian Soccer Federation and the Western Australian Hall of Fame.
