The Gold Fields Boys Under 15 State Squad to play in the Jinshan International Youth Football Championship in August has been confirmed.
The 18-player squad will play a minimum of four matches in China.
This is the third successive year that Football West has been invited to send a team to the tournament.
Head Coach Garry Church said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent that is in Western Australia.
“Last year the team played sides from China and India, as well as Czech side Slavia Prague. The boys learn so much, both on the pitch and off it in terms of life experience.”
The tournament will further strengthen Football West’s ties with Asia and China in particular.
In 2017 Football West developed an Asian Engagement Strategy and during last year’s trip to China we signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Shanghai Football Association to deliver improved player, coach and referee exchange programs.
The squad will fly to China on August 19, with the tournament taking place between August 21-26.
