Hyundai Club Development Program

WA clubs will have their own off-the-pitch pre-season over the summer as they get into shape for the 2020 campaign.

Football West will be holding a series of club development workshops to help clubs maximise their results.

These will be part of the Hyundai Club Development Program and will cover a number of topics, including:

  • Good governance

  • Applying for grants

  • Club committee roles

  • Balancing the books

  • Risk management

  • Sponsorship

  • Volunteers

  • Social media and marketing

Top sports consultants Peter Minchin and Ruth Gibbons will be closely involved in the workshops, which will be held north and south of the river.

Peter has 20 years’ experience across the sport sector and was previously the Executive Director at Triathlon Western Australia. He has an in-depth knowledge of the challenges faced by member-based associations and clubs.

Ruth also boasts over 20 years’ experience in leadership roles, including an Executive Director of a State sporting organisation.

Hyundai Regional General Manager Michael Beros said: “It’s no secret that grassroots, community football is primarily administered by volunteers who give up many hours in supporting their local clubs.

“Hyundai is very excited to be able to support Football West in rolling out the 2020 Club Development program because we understand the importance of getting it right off-field, as that provides the ideal foundation to getting it right on-field.

“I encourage those clubs seeking to reskill, refresh or simply build for the future to jump on board and register today.”

Football West CEO James Curtis said anything that made life easier for clubs in the State should be welcomed.

“There is so much more to being a successful club than what happens on the pitch and Football West is appreciative of the challenges clubs face,” Mr Curtis said.

“We want to provide many of the tools needed to deal with the off-field issues from knowing how to apply for grants to managing volunteers or balancing the books.”

There are also plans to hold Hyundai Club Development Workshops in regional WA early in 2020.

The workshops will run from October to April. For the full list of workshops and to register your interest CLICK HERE
