Champions Kingsley tuned up for the Belt Up Amateur Cup Final with a 9-1 humbling of Belmont Villa in the final round of the league.
With Kingsley having already secured the Belt Up Amateur Premier title and Belmont’s relegation confirmed, both teams were able to experiment slightly. This included Belmont starting with all 10 outfield players on the halfway line from kick-off.
It didn’t take long for Kingsley to take the lead as a long ball bounced over the head of Belmont keeper Kadir Kalkan which allowed Josh Waldock to walk the ball into an empty net.
Aaron Lickiss doubled the lead after 11 minutes when he headed home from close range following a corner from Lee Thomas.
It was three when Kalkan again came too far off his line, which led to Sean Johnson heading a cross into an empty net.
Belmont pulled one back after 38 minutes when Luqnan Abdrahman got in behind and poked his shot past Kingsley keeper Rob Andrews.
But it would prove to be just a consolation as Kingsley added one more before the break when some nice build up play ended with Thomas striking his shot into the bottom corner from outside the box.
It took less than a minute for half-time substitutes Simone Sichel and Ryan Brown to make an impact as a long throw from Brown was headed home by Sichel.
Kingsley made it 6-1 when Brown carried the ball forward before lobbing keeper Kalkan, and Sichel added another after getting on the end of a square ball from Luke Coltman.
Coltman then got himself on the scoresheet after his shot on the turn found the bottom corner before Lewis Flatt won and scored a penalty to round out the comprehensive 9-1 victory.
Kingsley will now turn their attention to next Sunday’s Cup Final against Division Two Carramar at Macedonia Park (6.30pm kick-off) before they sign off from Sunday football and take their place in State League Division Two.
