Kingsley hit nine in huge win

Report by Bobby Stamatoski

Kingsley SC recorded an incredible 9-3 win over Joondalup United at Chichester Reserve in the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division.

In an unusual Saturday night slot, Steve Dimitrovich’s side led 4-1 at half-time and did not let up  in a one-sided encounter.

“Overall, absolutely over the moon with the way the boys performed tonight,” the Kingsley SC coach said.

“Saturday night football, the boys enjoyed it, they were looking forward to it all week.

“Disappointed with the goals we’ve conceded but overall ecstatic with the way the boys executed everything tonight.”

Jayden Drummond put Kingsley 1-0 in front in the eighth minute with a shot from distance, before Lee Thomas doubled the lead with a tap-in 12 minutes later.

Aaron Lickissthen got on the scoresheet with a towering header and a minute later it was 4-0 as Drummond got a deserved double from distance.

Joondalup pulled one back a minute later through Sam Davis and managed to stop the bleeding, at least until half time.

But once Joondalup keeper Luke Green extended Kingsley’s lead to 5-1 with an own goal, things turned nasty for the visitors.

Substitute Ryan Brown made it 6-1 and after Alex McKay pulled another back for United, Lewis Flatt made it 7-2 with a classy finish nine minutes from time.

Joondalup plugged away and Adam Gianassi scored a third only for Simone Sichel and Sean Johnson to add two more for Kingsley to complete the demolition.

Dimitrovich added: “I think they all put in a great performance today.

“The work rate, especially the midfield, was unreal and I’ll probably give a mention to Adam Lickiss as he had a very good game at centre back.”
