Chris Jackson fired rampant Bayswater City back to the top of the New Balance NPL WA Men’s competition as his side thrashed Sorrento FC 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson scored a hat-trick to help Bayswater move a point clear of Olympic Kingsway with two rounds to play. Perth RedStar are three points off the top and the outsiders of the three title contenders.
Bayswater led 3-1 at the break in the rescheduled Round 18 fixture at Frank Drago Reserve. An early own goal by Scott Robertson put them ahead followed by two from Jackson, before Keegan Chambers threw the Gulls a lifeline. After that, it was all Baysie. Jackson completed his treble with a header to go joint top of the Golden Boot race with 14 goals. Then Jahce Novello, Alex Patrascu and Jackson Stephens got in on the act as Bayswater racked up a massive boost to their goal difference.
Bayswater are next in action on Friday night at home to Stirling Macedonia, while on Saturday Olympic host Sorrento and RedStar travel to Perth Azzurri.
