State League fixtures released

Football West News

The State League fixtures for 2019 have been released with two sides back in Division One meeting in the opening round on March 23.

Subiaco, who have dropped down from the NPL WA, will travel to Olympic Kingsway, who won the second division title on the back of an unbeaten campaign last year.

Fremantle City Head Coach Mauro Marchione will go up against Morley-Windmills, the team he coached last season, while Joondalup United’s return to Division One will begin with a home match against UWA Nedlands.

Last season’s runners up Gwelup Croatia host South West Phoenix, Ashfield SC are at home to Western Knights while Forrestfield United, also back in the State League after two seasons in the NPL, face Mandurah City in a 7pm kick-off.

The Division Two season kicks off a week later, with Curtin University and Kelmscott starting proceedings at Edinburgh Oval on Friday, March 29.

The rest of the fixtures are on the following day.

Joondalup City are looking to bounce straight back to Division One and they get under way against Balga, Swan United entertain Quinns while Murdoch University Melville meet Shamrock Rovers.

In the final match of Round One at 7pm, relegated Dianella White Eagles host Wanneroo City, who last year missed out on promotion on goal difference.
