Goals from Nathan Frith and Hamish Van Dieken ensured the Gold Fields State Under 15 Boys Team won their first match of the Bali International Football Championships on Monday night.
The WA side beat Malaysian outfit Felda United 2-1 to take immediate control of Group D before their second match against Korean team Chang Nyeong on Tuesday.
It was a deserved victory, with Daniel Faichney and Jamie Swan going close to adding further goals.

Frith opened the scoring when he got on the end of Dejan Lewis’ free kick, only for the Felda to capitalise on some WA uncertainty to level against the run of play before the break.
But the Gold Fields State side got their reward in the second half as Van Dieken headed in another Lewis free kick to make it 2-1.
The Malaysian team at times frustrated the West Australians by staying down after being tackled and head coach Brad Hassell and assistant Sean D’Arcy were happy with how their players handled the situation.
“We’ve got a good determination about ourselves and the boys didn’t let the oppositon get away with anything,” said Hassell.
