Summer All-Abilities Futsal

Football West News

Football West is still looking for players to join our Summer All-Abilities Futsal league.

Matches began last month and take place at Warrandyte Park, Craigie on Thursday nights between 6.15-7.30pm until April 11.

Details of the Summer All-Abilities Futsal league include:

  • Aged 11 and older

  • With or without competitive disadvantages (including physical, sensory, intellectual disability, etc)

  • Wanting to play and learn at their own pace without high pressure

  • Beginning or making a comeback

  • Who want to prepare for pathways in the game, especially Special Olympics, Paras and Vision Impaired

  • Who can spare a couple of hours to make friends in a team environment

Parent Andrew Mead said: “My son Kai has autism and finds regular football teams too much. The drills were simple for him to understand and were carried out in a fun learning style.

“Parent participation is strongly encouraged and this adds to the relaxing nature of the whole session. I also enjoyed training with my son and no stress was placed on him when his short concentration span had him disengaging from the activities.

“He thoroughly enjoyed the session and was talking about it in the car on the way home. I recommend this program to all parents who have children with special needs and/or learning disabilities who would otherwise miss out on this great sport.”

Football West Development Officer Gordon Duus attends matches and provides high quality coaching engaging participants of wide range of ability and experience.

“Participants pay amount to cover costs of $10 per session, ideal for people selecting an active lifestyle through National Disability Insurance Scheme,” he said.
