Josh Chiat and Gareth Naven are joined by Carlos Perez Salvachua, head coach of Melbourne Victory and a former youth coach at the famed Real Madrid academy in Spain, where he had a hand in the development of Champions League stars Juan Mata, Dani Carvajal & Jose Callejon.

Episode Two

Paul Okon took to the fields of Club Marconi in western Sydney as a child and ended his illustrious career having played on some of the biggest stages in world sport.

San Siro, Old Trafford and Camp Nou, Okon graced them all during a journey in which he lifted a Belgian league title and experienced the highs of the Champions League, Serie A and Premier League.

On the international stage, Okon was a key figure in forging Australia’s reputation. He starred in the glorious run at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and captained the Socceroos in their famous defeat of England 11 years later.

Having recently relocated to Belgium, Okon tells Football West’s Neil Devey and Alex Novatsis how he and his family are settling in Europe amid the coronavirus lockdown, which of his managers was the best five-a-side player he’s seen and his relationship with West Aussie great Stan Lazaridis.
