A goal four minutes into stoppage time from striker Eddie Wilson saw Gosnells City beat Swan United 2-1 in an entertaining State League Division Two game at Walter Padbury Reserve.
Wilson had given the home side the lead in the first half, but John Monterosso levelled for the visitors on 77 minutes.
The game took a twist three minutes from time when Swan midfielder Brian Patterson was sent off, and Wilson popped up late to seal the three points and keep Gosnells in the title race.
It was the visitors who started the brighter and Monterosso and Jay Lang both went close. But Gosnells hit back with a long-range strike from Kenel Mouithys, before Feisal Zaw’s curling effort flashed just wide on the half hour.
Seven minutes later Gosnells opened the scoring. Mouithys sent Josh Wade down the left and his first time cross was turned home by Wilson at the near post.
Things got a little tense on the Swan bench in stoppage time and substitute Rory Mouttet was booked.
Marc Anthony’s went close to a second before the break when the lively Sheldon Nogueira cut in from the right and his cross picked out Scott Pereira, whose header crashed off the crossbar and away to safety.
It was a tight second half with both sides having good chances, David Foster heading over the top for the Swans, before Swans keeper Joe Smith produced a stunning save to keep Wilson’s header out at his near post.
But then a long free-kick into the box was spilt by Tom Allan, under great pressure from Chris Marshall, and the ball fell to Monterosso who made no mistake from the angle.
The game took another twist on 87 minutes when referee Alex Best showed Swan midfielder Patterson his second yellow card. And to make matters worse for Paul Dundo’s side, Gosnells won it late.
Smith failed to hold on to a free-kick and the ball was headed back across goal where Wilson nodded home from close-range to set off wild celebrations on and off the pitch.
