Women’s Night Series final

Football West News

While pounding the path around Optus Stadium on Thursday morning, the Queens Park and Northern Redbacks players politely kept their competitiveness in check as they enjoyed an early morning run with Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.

Morgan Aquino and Bronwyn Studman and Kaitlyn Bellanca of Northern Redbacks and Queens Park’s Tia Stonehill, Lexie Moreno and Emily Henderson all took part in the promotion for Australia’s Women’s World Cup bid.

With no budding Prime Minister in attendance at Coker Park on Sunday night, it will be game on when the two teams meet in the Women’s Night Series final.

Queens Park reached the final by defeating Balcatta on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Redbacks saw off Fremantle City 3-0.

Coaches Ben Anderson of Queens Park and opposite number Conrad McKelvie might play down the significance of the outcome in relation to the six months ahead, but this is a final and both will be desperate to win.
