Women’s NPL a big hit with viewers
Football West News
The first weekend of the Women’s National Premier Leagues WA proved a success on and off the pitch as fans embraced the new competition.
The four matches in Round One, which were live streamed on Football West’s YouTube and Facebook pages, have attracted more than 50,000 views.
Football West CEO James Curtis said the figures were an endorsement of the new elite female competition in WA.
“We are delighted with the numbers for the games and it is great that the audience were treated to some quality performances,” Mr Curtis said.
“Women’s football is growing all the time, especially on the back of the winning 2023 Women’s World Cup bid, and Football West strongly believes there is a demand for live streaming our Women’s NPL. And as more and more people become aware that they can see the games live, our audiences will grow.
“This will be great for clubs, who get greater exposure for themselves and potentially their advertisers. But it will hopefully also draw more people to attend the matches.
“We are also live streaming the Men’s NPL and Men’s Under 20s, as we did last season. Their figures are strong, too. In all, Football West will live stream over 150 games this year, which is fantastic.”
On the field Perth SC defeated Fremantle 2-1. Elsewhere, Northern Redbacks beat Subiaco 4-0, Balcatta won a thriller 3-2 at Murdoch University Melville, while on Friday Curtin University and Hyundai NTC drew 2-2.A wrap of Round One of the Women’s NPL can be viewed HERE.

The three remaining matches finished 1-1, including the Friday night clash between Bayswater City and champions Perth SC. Luke Salmon rescued a point for Bayswater in the final minute with a brilliant free-kick.
