Dorrien Gardens gears up for 11 finals

Football West’s bumper finals weekend kicks off tonight with two matches under the Dorrien Gardens lights.

The Men’s State League Division Two Reserves final between Murdoch University Melville and Kingsley Westside gets the ball rolling at 6pm.

This will be followed at 8pm by the Division Two first team decider involving league champions Carramar Shamrock Rovers and Dianella White Eagles, which will be live streamed on the Football West Facebook and YouTube pages. The two sides met at the end of last month at Grandis Park, with Carramar winning 4-1 to clinch the title.

On Saturday, the first of four finals sees Morley Windmills and Wanneroo City meet in the Division Two 18s final (10am).

Then it’s the Division One 18s final between Subiaco and Joondalup United (12.15pm), followed by the Division One Reserves final with Quinns facing Subiaco (2.30pm).

The last match on Saturday, which will be live streamed, is the Division One first team final. Again it involves the league champions, Olympic Kingsway, who go up against Fremantle City (4.45pm). The two sides drew 1-1 when they met in Round Six of the regualr season.

On Sunday, there will be five finals and all will be live streamed.

First up is the NPLWA Men’s 18s encounter between Bayswater City and Sorrento (10am). Then it’s the NPLWA Women’s 23 decider between Northern Redbacks and Fremantle City (12.15pm). Next sees Bayswater City and ECU Joondalup clash in the NPLWA Men’s 20 final (2.30pm).

The final two matches are the NPLWA first team finals.

Meeting in the Women’s final are Northern Redbacks and Fremantle City (4.45pm). The sides have one win each from earlier this season, Redbacks winning 1-0 in Round Three while Fremantle won 2-0 in Round 10.

Finally it’s the Men’s final between Floreat Athena and hosts Perth SC, which kicks off at 7.15pm. Perth beat Floreat twice in the Night Series, including a 5-0 thrashing in the final when the majority of Floreat’s regular first team were absent. In Round Two in the league, Floreat won 2-0.

All finals which are level at 90 minutes will go straight to penalties with the exception of the NPLWA first team games, which will have extra time and then penalties if necessary.

Admission to Dorrien Gardens for the Friday night and Saturday is $5, while it is $10 on Sunday.
