Western Knights have opened up a four-point gap at the top of the Men’s State League Division One following another dominant victory on Saturday.
Knights defeated Subiaco 4-0 at Nash Field, Alex Kretowicz scoring after nine minutes then Dean Hurley taking charge with a second-half hat-trick.
Western Knights have a maximum 15 points from their first five games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just two.
The two sides immediately behind Knights both drew – Forrestfield United were held 1-1 at home against Joondalup United while Quinns FC played a 2-2 draw at UWA Nedlands.
At 1620 Capital Stadium, Jordan Hart netted a first-half equaliser for Forrestfield to cancel out Dion Berman’s opener.
And Quinns were grateful for Sam Wynne’s second goal of the game three minutes from the end against a UWA side who had led twice through Georgios Papathanassiou and Pascal Sedgwick.
Fremantle have joined Quinns on 10 points, one behind Forrestfield, following their 2-0 defeat of Ashfield. Dantae Greer and Charlie Betts were the scorers.
Gyles Davies converted two penalties and Ajak Riak scored a double in Olympic Kingsway’s 5-2 win at Stirling Lions. Tyler Garner got Kingsway’s other, while Gavin Knight (pen) and Zane Casella were on target for Lions.
Swan United are still without a point after second-half goals from Shane Boyle and John Baird (pen) were enough to give Mandurah City a 2-0 win at Swan Italian Club.
Division Two leaders Wanneroo City remain three points clear of Kingsley Westside after Saturday’s Round Five matches.
Wanneroo defeated Curtin University 5-0, Flynn Nolan getting a hat-trick, while Kingsley won 3-0 at home against Balga with Jayden Drummond scoring two.
The northern dominance at the top of the table sees Joondalup City in third and Carramar Shamrock Rovers in fourth.
