Keogh goal enough for Gulls, Phoenix score 10

Jayde Keogh scored the only goal to keep Sorrento top of Women’s State League Division One.

Keogh struck in the first half as the Gulls got past Armadale at Percy Doyle Reserve.

A point behind are South West Phoenix, who took Gwelup Croatia apart 10-1.

Nicole Suttie (3), Lara Graham (2), Ava Richards (2), Savannah Olsthoorn (2) and Alesia Riches scored for Phoenix before Joanne Randazzo got Gwelup on the scoreboard seven minutes from time.

Two other sides to school their opponents were UWA Nedlands and ECU Joondalup.

Jacqueline Nellany scored a hat-trick in ECU’s 6-0 victory at Balga. Frankie Murray, Amy Buchanan and Lara Young were also on target for the Jacks, who are now third.

Fourth-placed UWA went one better as they won 7-0 at Gosnells City. Rebecca Saccoccio made it four goals in four games with her double, while Erin Armstrong, Eleni Xydas, Monique Saunders, Alex Lyons and Jess Pillera got the others.

Mandurah City are fifth following their 1-0 defeat of Stirling Lions. Amy Terrell was the scorer on 51 minutes.

The day’s other winners were Perth AFC, 1-0 at Port Kennedy. Angela Cheaib struck just before the break.

Division One results

 

Curtin University have gone top of the Women’s Amateur League after their 2-1 win at Subiaco.

Suria Priya Varatharaja hit the winner four minutes from time.

Subiaco led on five minutes through Nakisa Zoohori, Soraya Sadiqi levelling on 10.

Game of the day was at Celebration Park, where Northern Redbacks and Fremantle City drew 2-2.

Lidia Jones struck first for Redbacks just three minutes in, a lead they held until after half-time. Then goals from Kate Thayer and Alice Vandermeiren turned the game in Freo’s favour. But two minutes from the final whistle, Tiahna Atkins earned Redbacks a draw.

It was another heavy loss for bottom club Balga, beaten 11-0 at home to UWA Nedlands.

Emily Dinsdale scored five for UWA, who were 8-0 up at the interval.
