Knights to the four again

Alex Kretowicz scored twice as Western Knights recorded a second successive 4-0 win in the men’s State League Division One.

Johnny Chalmers and Lewis McMahon also netted as the early league leaders brushed aside Ashfield at Nash Field.

Three other sides also have maximum points after the opening two rounds.

Mitchell Cocker struck two minutes from the end to give Forrestfield United a 3-2 win at Subiaco.

With 10 minutes left the score was tied at 1-1. Ben Wantee then put United in front from the spot, only for Ignacio Dominguez to level with his second penalty of the afternoon. But Cocker’s effort proved decisive for Forrestfield, for whom Vladimir Naumovski had equalised in the first half.

Ajak Riak’s double made it three goals in two games for the striker as Olympic Kingsway won 3-1 at Joondalup United.

Kingsway led 1-0 at the break through Elliot Tattersall’s opener, while Joondalup’s Jamie Gibson equalised with a penalty early in the second half.

Quinns sit in fourth spot after their 2-0 home victory against Fremantle City. Skipper Greg Pellow and Sam Wynne scored the goals.

Lloyd Prout claimed a hat-trick in UWA Nedlands’ 4-1 defeat of Swan United. Pascal Sedgwick added the fourth, with Albert Amankwaa netting late on for Swan.

Stirling Lions, relegated from the NPL last year, are yet to settle in their new surroundings.

They suffered a second straight loss, this week going down 2-1 at Mandurah City despite Lawrence Shuruma’s first-half opener. Joe O’Brien and Jeff Bright turned the match around for Mandurah after the break.
