North Perth United secured the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division title on Sunday after drawing 0-0 at Quinns.
With Kwinana United being held 3-3 by Leeming Strikers, the point was enough for North Perth to be crowned champions for the second time in three seasons.
North Perth remain seven points ahead of their nearest rivals with just two rounds of the league season to play.
Kwinana were on course to stay in the hunt for one more week at least as a Lee Bates hat-trick put them 3-1 in front on 57 minutes. However, Kieran Witt scored two goals in 10 minutes to drag third-place Strikers level and that is how it finished. Ben Greaves had earlier equalised for Leeming.
There was another 3-3 draw in the Amateur Division, with Maddington White City and UWA Nedlands sharing the points. Harrison Papalia had UWA ahead inside a minute but by the break they were behind thanks to goals from Stevens Pino and Cesar Orozco. After the interval it was UWA’s turn to show their mettle as Aamon Zothner and Blair Harding struck, before Jose Zuniga rescued a point for Maddington seven minutes from the end.
The goals were flying in across the division, with Joondalup United and Queens Park pulling off 3-2 victories.
Adam Taylor hit an injury-time winner for Joondalup away at second-bottom Wembley Downs, not long after Adam Buckley had brought them level for the second time from the penalty spot.
Leigh Bridger scored twice for basement club Queens Park, who survived a late rally from Hamersley Rovers to grab their third win of the campaign.
Jaguar FC’s brief stay at the top of the table seems a distant memory. After six rounds Jaguar had won four and drawn one – they haven’t won since and sit third bottom following Sunday’s 1-0 loss at South West Phoenix. Zach Van Oosten scored the only goal after an hour.
