Football West has held a meeting with NPLWA Men’s referees and assessors where incidents during recent matches were discussed. Members of the All Flags Referee Academy were also invited to observe for their development.
Topics discussed were:
-

Violent conduct
 -

Serious foul play
 -

Offside interpretations
 -

Game management
 -

Penalty kicks

Incidents were discussed as a group with the aim of improving the level of consistency in matches.
Football West Referee Co-ordinator Simon Hicks said: “Players, coaches and spectators often ask for consistency in refereeing decisions and getting our NPLWA Men’s referees together as a group helps us to achieve the high level of consistency that is expected.
“Football is a game of opinions and there is always plenty of discussion and debate, but ultimately as a group we can all agree on the same outcome and go into matches with the same understanding and expectations.”
Meanwhile Kelmscott Roos Juniors hosted a referee workshop at Fryer Park this week.
The workshops are free of charge and available to all clubs. Subjects covered include the offside law and how a club assistant referee can best help out the match-day referee.
Football West Referee Development Officer Frank Moretti said the course was ideal for club volunteers, players, mums and dads to help run the line on the full-size pitch.
