Savannah Olsthoorn struck twice as South West Phoenix stayed on the heels of Women’s State League Division One leaders Sorrento with a 6-1 win over Mandurah City.
Olsthoorn, who scored a hat-trick in the opening round, put Phoenix 2-0 ahead with a double inside 14 minutes. Six minutes later it was 4-0, Lara Graham and Nicole Suttie on target, and at that stage Mandurah must have feared a real drubbing.
Fortunately Casey Hughes pulled one back before half-time, but the dismissal of Cerys Watts a minute before the break probably ended any hope of further inroads.
Casey Widdeson and Ava Richards rounded out the scoring for Phoenix.
Sorrento remain a point in front of the field after they made short shrift of Perth AFC at Len Packham.
Claudia Manigodich scored the first, then Jodie Brough added two more.
Armadale beat neighbours Gosnells City 4-0 to move into third place. Sharon Clark, Chloe Bolt, captain Kirsty Woods and Hannah Blackman were on target for Armadale.
ECU Joondalup are starting to motor as they chalked up a second straight win. On Sunday the Jacks beat a young Gwelup Croatia side 4-1 with all of the goals inside the first 26 minutes.
Frankie Murray, Fiona Mays and Sophia Raschi’s own goal set ECU on their way. Nicole Lombardo reduced the gap but Britney Janczewski re-established the three-goal lead.
UWA Nedlands were too good for Balga at UWA Sports Park. Rebecca Saccoccio scored before half-time, with Jess Pillera (2) and Jordanna Musuruca also chipping in.
Tara Garrood scored her second goal in two weeks to give Stirling Lions a 1-0 win over Port Kennedy.
In the Women’s Amateur Premier Division Amy Perejmibida’s hat-trick was the stand-out as leaders Fremantle City hit double figures against Balga.
Sophie Fletcher scored two as Curtin University defeated UWA Nedlands 4-1, while Northern Redbacks benefited from two own goals as they downed Subiaco 3-0.
