Forrestfield United begin the defence of the State League Night Series at home to promoted Kingsley Westside this Friday night.
The match against last year’s Amateur Premier champions is part of a double-header at Game Guardian Stadium and follows on from the Gosnells City-Mandurah City clash.
ALL THE STATE LEAGUE NIGHT SERIES FIXTURES
Rhys Loxley inspired Forrestfield’s come-from-behind 3-1 win over Gwelup Croatia in the 2019 final and he is back as skipper this year.
Kingsley will again look to Jayden Drummond for goals as they step up a division and the signs were good in the recent Bushfire Charity Match at Dorrien Gardens with the striker on target for the State League All Stars XI against the NPL side.
The Night Series sees the 24 Division One and Two State League teams divided into six groups of four. The group winners plus two best second-place sides will advance to the quarter-finals.
The final will be on Saturday, 7 March.
Fremantle City face Shamrock Rovers at E&D Litis Stadium. Straight after that is a derby between Joondalup City and Joondalup United.
There are also two matches at Wanneroo. Morley-Windmills meet Division One newcomers Quinns, before Wanneroo City take on Subiaco, who have former Perth Glory NSL title winner Brad Hassell as head coach.
The other six Round One matches are on Sunday.
Stirling Lions, fresh from relegation from the NPL WA, go up against Curtin University at Edinburgh Oval. Lions have Rob Milevski back as head coach and have brought in veteran striker and former Gold Medal winner Gavin Knight from Balcatta.
Preceding that match is the Ashfield-Dianella White Eagles game.
At Kingsway, Balga meet UWA Nedlands while hosts Olympic Kingsway take on Canning City.
And back at Game Guardian Stadium, Murdoch University Melville face Swan United and Western Knights take on Kelmscott Roos.
