Tadiswa Shaun Mutyavaviri rescues a point for the Gold Fields WA State U16s
He might be marked down for the landing but there is no denying the quality of the finish and celebration backflip from Tadiswa Shaun Mutyavaviri as he earned the Gold Fields WA State Boys U16s a vital point at the 2024 National Youth Championships.

Mutyavaviri struck moments after his side had gone behind against Queensland White at JJ Kelly Park in Wollongong this morning. The goal ensured the WA team drew 1-1 and stayed top of Group B with four points from two matches.

On day one, the WA U16s enjoyed an excellent 1-0 win over Victoria Silver in a hard-fought encounter at Ian McClennan Park.

A close-range finish by Perth Glory's Cristiano Farfan with three minutes proved decisive.

The U16s play their final group match tomorrow at WIN Stadium against NSW Metro Navy (10.45am WST). A point will guarantee them a spot in Friday's quarter-finals.

The WA State U15s are unable to make the last eight after going down to a second straight 1-0 loss, this time to Queensland White. Again, there was little to choose between the teams with a single goal deciding the contest.

The WA U15s were involved in a similarly close game against their Victoria Silver counterparts at the same venue, going down 1-0.

The U15s take on Group B leaders NSW Metro Navy at WIN Stadium tomorrow (9.30am).
